Botanical Gardens Announces the Annual Succulent Show, a Medicinal Garden Feature and a Fall Plant Sale

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens Society, Inc. is proud to announce the annual Succulent Show which will run September 7 - October 6, 10am-5pm daily, a Medicinal Garden Feature to highlight Cholesterol Awareness and Men’s Health Month on September 7 from 10am-2pm and the Fall Plant Sale on September 13 from 9am-7pm and September 14 from 9am-2pm.

Designed by Botanical Gardens’ Gardeners, the Succulent Show, sponsored by Local Edge, is always a visitor favorite.  This exciting show will illustrate to visitors what can be created with these exciting little plants through creative design concepts. Using common, unusual and exotic varieties, the Botanical Gardens will be full of interesting container gardens, a table setting, a globe made of succulents and many unexpected surprises. 

September is Cholesterol Awareness and Men’s Health Month and a special Medicinal Garden Feature will take place at the Gardens on September 7 from 10am-2pm. Activities include: Educational displays about healthy foods from plants that may be beneficial in maintaining a low-cholesterol diet, medications and botanicals which may be helpful in managing cholesterol levels, educational presentations and displays about general men’s health and prostate health; botanical displays of plants from which current medications are derived and from which future medications are being researched.   From 10am-12pm, Independent Nursing Care will provide blood pressure screening and flu shots will be available.   The Medicinal Garden is made possible by D’Youville College School of Pharmacy and Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, part of Catholic Health.

The third Annual Fall Plant Sale will take place on September 13 from 9am-7pm and September 14 from 9am-2pm in the Gardens’ Administration Building.  This fantastic sale will include perennials, flowering shrubs and more!  Highlights include; Japanese Anemone, Leadwort, New England Aster, Butterfly Bush, Toad Lily, Large Flower Hibiscus and so much more! 

Tickets for the Succulent Show and the Medicinal Garden Feature can be purchased at the door and prices are; $9 for adults, $8 for seniors (55+) and students (13+), $5 for kids 3-12, Garden Members and kids under 3 are free!  The Fall Plant Sale on September 13 and 14 is free to the public.
