An Orchid Show and a Photography Exhibit will Brighten the Botanical Gardens

Buffalo, NY - The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens will be bursting with Orchids at the winter Orchid Show and beautiful photographs from the Science Museum Camera Club’s exhibit, Beautiful Botanicals.  The Orchid Show will be held March 2 from 10am through 4:30pm and on March 3 from 10am through 3pm.  The gallery exhibit will be held daily March 2 through May 27 in the Arcangel Gallery inside the Botanical Gardens.

Along with the Niagara Frontier Orchid Society, the Botanical Gardens will host this popular annual orchid showcase with dozens of hand-picked and award winning orchid exhibits.  These unique exhibits will be dispersed throughout the Botanical Gardens for visitors to enjoy. For those who want to expand their orchid knowledge, informal educational presentations will be held both days on growing orchids and other aspects of indoor orchid gardening. During the show, orchids of many varieties and sizes along with lots of growing supplies will be for sale through local vendors.

The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society’s mission is to seek to promote the culture and enjoyment of orchids, and aims to further every member’s orchid related knowledge. They are dedicated to encouraging the protection of orchids and their conservation in natural habitats around the world.

The Science Museum Camera Club will display their latest work during an exhibit entitled, Beautiful Botanicals, in the Arcangel Gallery inside the Botanical Gardens.  In this exhibit, visitors will enjoy many unique interpretations of the beautiful botanicals in our lives; in nature, at the Botanical Gardens, in their yards and local parks. This exhibition will feature works by 30 members of the Club.  The Science Museum Camera Club is a community of practice that has been meeting at the Buffalo Museum of Science since 1939.  As a community, all levels of experience are welcome.  They believe that by sharing their knowledge, experience and friendship they can grow in abilities as photographers while having fun doing so.

Both are included with Botanical Gardens’ regular admission and can be purchased online or at the door.  Prices are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+), $9 for students (13+), $6 for kids 3-12, Botanical Gardens’ Members and kids two and under are free.
