Our annual Fresh Holiday Arrangement is now online! Our Make-It, Take-It format is flip flopping! Now you can Take-it, and Make-it at home! Bring the scents and colors of the holiday season home! Design an arrangement for your dinner table or craft a unique gift.  In order to maintain the safest environment possible, class will be offered via Zoom Meeting, a free online audio-visual platform.

All adult classes and workshops are recorded and are available for one week after the class. Therefore, if you miss a class, you will have one week to catch up on the class at your convenience. Review our class information and procedures for more information. 

All supplies included with curbside pick-up - Fresh flowers and materials will be available for curbside pick-up 12-2pm on December 17. A large bucket or vase with water is recommended for transporting your flowers home.

Meet your instructor Kristy Schmitt

Kristy is the Director of Education at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. As a certified teacher for both Birth-Grade 2 and 7-12 Biology, she has been teaching children and adults of all ages all about plants at the Botanical Gardens. She has also been a long-standing workshop instructor and lecturer for a wide variety of programs both onsite and in the local community at libraries and other community centers. She loves plants, particularly trees and mosses and enjoys sharing the botanical world with everyone!

Her background is in Science Education with a MS from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Forest Biology with a focus on Natural History Interpretation from SUNY-ESF. Kristy held educational positions with the Pioneer School district, Buffalo Audubon Society, and the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse before starting at the Botanical Gardens in 2012. Most recently, she became a Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional in 2017 and serves on the executive board of PLANT-WNY.

Kristy is extremely knowledgeable about the natural world and loves to share her passion with her daughter, Linden. She is a fun and super energetic instructor that exudes a love of plants.
