FRUITS AND FLOWERS
by Jerry Bianchi
My exhibit’s focus is a variety of fruit and flower images (with a few insects!) that have been generally fashioned using HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography. I incorporate this technique to create an artistic digital image that takes on a life of its own rather than trying to capture an actual scene. By working in this manner the outcomes are unpredictable but always exciting.
To me, photography is a very special combination of technical skills and artistic perception. While I endeavor to master the technical aspects of photography, I try to keep more focused on the artistic nature of what I create. My goal is to make a photographic statement that provokes the viewer to reflect on what they see, and if they can relate to it- I’ve done my job well. That’s what motivates me to do photography.
There is an element of Photoshop in all of my images. For me, and for most any digital photographer, it wouldn’t be possible to make the final print without using Photoshop or some other photo-editing software along the way. Creating the final image is the target, and in digital photography you can’t do that without software.
