Tributes and Dedications 

A gift to the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is a thoughtful and touching way to remember a loved one, honor a special person, offer gratitude, or commemorate a special occasion. 

Gifts can celebrate marriages, births, retirements, anniversaries, or memorialize a beloved friend or family member.  

Tribute gifts made in honor or memory of a friend or loved one are recognized with either a notification card sent to the honoree, or in the case of memorial gifts, sent to a family member of friend.  Dedications can be given in memory of or in honor of a loved one, and a minimum gift amount is required. 

Tribute and dedication gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and are recognized in the Gardens’ newsletter, Under the Dome.

Dedication Opportunities

Pavers $300 large (12" x 12") and Bricks $150 small (4” x 8”)

Your unique, personalized message will become part of the Gardens’ history with a paver in our Perennial Peace Garden or a brick in our outdoor Children's Garden.  Pavers and bricks are engraved according to your wishes, with space limitations according to the size selected.

Name Engraved on Stone Monument $500

The name of your chosen individual or family will join the names of other honored individuals on a commemorative stone located in our outdoor Perennial Peace Garden.

Dedicate an Existing Tree or Shrub * $1,000

Select a tree or shrub in one of our outdoor gardens to dedicate.  A 4” x 6” marker, inscribed according to your wishes, will be placed near the dedicated plant.

Plant a New Tree * $2,500 to $4,000

The Gardens' staff will help you select an appropriate tree and location for your dedication.  A 4” x 6” marker, inscribed according to your wishes, will denote your dedication.  Trees are generally 4’ – 6’ at the time of planting and prices vary depending on the type of tree planted.

Outdoor Teak Bench $2,500

Victorian Style Indoor Bench $3,500

Select the perfect place for your bench from a list of locations in our historic Conservatory.  A label, inscribed according to your wishes, will be affixed to the bench.  Benches are guaranteed up to ten years from the time of dedication. 

Create a Tribute

There are a variety of options available at higher donation levels including a gift to the Gardens’ endowment, the creation of a garden bed or installation of a water feature.  Our staff will help you create a unique tribute that is in keeping with the Gardens’ theme and mission.

* Please note – Trees and shrubs are guaranteed for up to five years from the time of dedication.  Horticultural staff will inspect trees on a regular basis.  During this period, if the tree or shrub is moved due to special landscape or site renovations needs, or becomes unhealthy, the donor will be notified and the Gardens will replace it with another comparable tree.  The Gardens is strongly committed to maintaining healthy trees and shrubs.
